a. Listen to at least 5 different pieces of gaming music/FX

Last of us main theme song:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y97u-U0nvJM
The game used this music to create a sense of loneliness and it really gives a depth of that survival aspect that the game is for surviving and it is easy to listen this to a video of the progression that characters have made when they have had to survive from the catastrophe. I would not use a different soundtrack as I think this soundtrack is really immersive for the player and it makes them care about the main characters.

HL2 music:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvyswm1UMko
This music is very sad because it sounds like it would be used when a character dies or the enemy has died it is a very sad. I would not use a different soundtrack because I think the speed of this song is perfect for a scene where a character has passed away or something.

Starwars Jedi Temple march:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFOo86PDDuE
This song is a very unique song because it creates a sense of authority with the jedi march showing that they are the top people with the most power. I would not have changed the music for this because it would nto be as dramatic and I don't think I would create enough authority.

Assassins creed song:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNTrbXew6wI
This song sets a really good setting for the player as it is using instruments that were used at the time the game was made which really makes it immersive like you are a assassin I would not have chosen a different song because I know that this music makes me think of assassins creed.

James bond song:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9FzgsF2T-s
This song is one of the most famous songs in the world as it is a stealthy song that shows James bond doing his job and fighting against the crime that goes on even though he is a secret agent it creates a sense of stealth as the player goes around trying to not be noticed or seen.

b. Research (on-line/journals in library)

Sound and FX are very very important when it comes to a video game this is because it can make it really immersive for the player even if it is something as simple as a noise when the start button is pressed. All these sounds put together make a BIG difference to the player even if they don't full notice or realise it but that is because they are used to hearing sounds for a game and they have expectations that the game will have sound.

What is waveform, (wavelength, amplitude, frequency); pitch; Hertz (Hz); decibel level (dB); sound generator (loudspeaker)?

Wavelength: "The word that musicians use for frequency is pitch. The shorter the wavelength, the higher the frequency, and the higher the pitch, of the sound. In other words, short waves sound high; long waves sound low. ... Most musicians cannot name the frequencies of any notes other than the tuning A (440 hertz)." https://www.google.co.uk/search?safe=strict&ei=fBBeWvK4NcSVUY3Gg5AP&q=What+is+wavelength+music&oq=What+is+wavelength+music&gs_l=psy-ab.3..0i22i30k1l2.157299.158248.0.158385.6.6.0.0.0.0.120.444.1j3.4.0....0...1c.1.64.psy-ab..2.4.443...0j0i67k1.0.73AfhY_zTTI

Amplitude: Amplitude and Frequency. ... Amplitude is the size of the vibration, and this determines how loud the sound is. We have already seen that larger vibrations make a louder sound. Amplitude is important when balancing and controlling the loudness of sounds, such as with the volume control on your CD player. https://www.google.co.uk/search?safe=strict&ei=RhFeWqvbC-LQgAbl1IH4CA&q=what+is+amplitude+music&oq=what+is+amplitude+music&gs_l=psy-ab.3..0i22i30k1l3.4330.5600.0.5744.6.6.0.0.0.0.91.469.6.6.0....0...1c.1.64.psy-ab..0.6.467...0j0i67k1j0i20i263k1.0.u0e006he8_o

Frequency: It is only useful or meaningful for musical sounds, where there is a strongly regular waveform. Frequencyis measured as the number of wave cycles that occur in one second. The unit of frequency measurement is Hertz (Hz for short). A frequency of 1 Hz means one wave cycle per second. https://www.google.co.uk/search?safe=strict&ei=TBFeWuSSN9C0gAaK0r_gCQ&q=what+is+frequency+music&oq=what+is+frequency+music&gs_l=psy-ab.3..0j0i22i30k1l9.29049.32207.0.32335.16.12.0.4.4.0.247.1304.4j6j1.11.0....0...1c.1.64.psy-ab..1.15.1323...35i39k1j0i67k1j0i131k1j0i20i263k1.0.nDNuSO6bCNk
