FILE EXTENSION

What is a file extension? A file extension is a string of characters attached to a filename, usually preceded by a full stop and indicating the format of the file. A good example of a file extension would be saving a file as a .png file. The reason there are different file extensions is so that the file saves in a certain way and it is easy to identify the saved thing.

Compression

File Compression is a data compression method in which the logical size of a file is reduced to save disk space for easier and faster transmission over a network or the internet. It enables the creation of a version of one or more files with the same data at a size substantially smaller than the original file.

Image Capture

Image capture is essentially saying taking a screenshot or photo using anything really. For example taking a screenshot on your computer of something you want to save or share, or maybe you want to take a picture of a landscape using your phone. Image capture basically means saving something at that moment and it is usually easy to take a photo of so you can just click a button and you have the image.

Optimising

You say on some games pages that a game is "Badly Optimised". Optimisation is a ongoing part of a games development process. The term Optimisation refers to the developers trying to get a game to run at its best while using the least amount of hardware resource. A game that is able to be run by a PC that has really bad PC specs means that the game is well optimised and has been made to increase the amount of FPS (Frames Per Second).

Here is a video of games that were badly optimised and only the best of the best PC's could run them:

Image Access

A simple definition is that a digital asset is content owned by an individual that is stored in digital form. But this may not be broad enough to encompass all the digital elements of an estate that have value.
